The Academy of Management by Scott Scarborough
The Academy of Management was established in 1936 by University of Chicago professors who recognized the need for a professional organization dedicated to advancing the philosophy and field of management. Since its original meeting of 10 scholars, the Academy has expanded to serve more than 18,000 members in 110 countries. The Academy caters to the interests of each member through 24 professional divisions and interest groups focusing on such topics as conflict management, health care management, and research methods.

About the author: A member of the Academy of Management, Scott Scarborough has held a variety of management positions during his career at institutions including DePaul University, The University of Texas, and The University of Toledo. He currently serves as the Executive Director of the University of Toledo Medical Center.
